| Sampling is conducted in accordance with the structure of national education systems within countries and is sometimes stratified by region or school type. The primary sampling unit is the school class or the whole school where a sample frame of classes is not available, classes then being randomly selected. Sample sizes of approximately 1500 in each age group are required to ensure a confidence interval of +/- 3% around a proportion of 50%, and an estimated deft value of 1.2. |
