 Thirty-six women with histologically proven recurrent disease, admitted to the NIH Clinical Center for treatment were enrolled. Patients were excluded from the study if they had received prior treatment for recurrence, if they had distinct metastases at the time of original diagnosis, if they had recurrent disease within 2 months of primary treatment, if they had brain metastases or if they were pregnant.
